Celebrating Black History Month

It is with great honour and heartfelt joy that we welcome you to our annual Black History Month celebration here in Doncaster. Since the founding of BME United in 2018, we have proudly marked this occasion for the past eight years—each time growing stronger, more united, and more inspired by the incredible contributions of our Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.

Today, we gather under the powerful theme: “Standing Firm in Power & Pride.” This theme speaks to the unwavering strength, dignity, and resilience of the Black community—past, present, and future. It reminds us that pride in our heritage and power in our voices are not just celebrated today, but carried forward every day in our work, our culture, and our communities.

We are deeply honoured to welcome our distinguished guests:

Mayor Ros Jones, whose leadership continues to champion inclusivity in our town,
Council Leader Damian Allen, whose support uplifts our shared vision for unity, and
MP Sally Patterson, whose presence today reflects a commitment to representation and equity at every level of government.
